There is a special program on the International Museum Day at Siida. To celebrate the day there is free entrance to the exhibitions. Máttut – Roots photo exhibition will be opened and represented to the audience. Furthermore, parts of the collections of the Sámi Museum will be published in Finna search service where they are available for the public.

Siida offers a free entrance to the exhibitions to celebrate the International Museum Day.

Máttut – Roots photo exhibition introduces the story of the Sámi people in Finland starting from the year 1900 to the 1950´s. The exhibition represents the variety of the Sámi culture and their traditional way of living, the rich legacy of the national dresses and the beautiful varying scenery of the Sámi regions. The opening and representing the exhibition is at 10 a.m.

For the first time Sámi Museum’s collections will became available in public database, in Finna search service. Finna is a nationwide search service that provides free access to materials from Finnish museums, archives and libraries. On the International Museum Day Sámi Museum publishes over 500 objects from its collections in Finna service. The release of Sámi Museum’s Finna is at the Siida’s auditorium at 13 p.m.
