Seminar on the Holy Sites of the Sámi
At the seminar on the holy sites, or sieidis, of the Sámi, researchers of general archaeology and biology from the University of Oulu introduce the audience to the most recent study results on the holy sites of Taatsi in Kittilä, Näkkälä in Enontekiö, Seitala in Utsjoki, Lake Nitsijärvi in Inari, and Kirkkopahta and Porviniemi in Muonio.
The themes include such issues as whether the bones of reindeer/wild reindeer come from tame or wild animals and what the genetic origin of bone material from sheep tells about contacts between communities.
