Guided tours

A guided tour at Siida lasts 1 hr 15 min. The tour includes the permanent exhibitions of Siida. Tours are offered in Finnish, English and German. The price of a guided tour of the exhibitions is EUR 95 / group. The recommended maximum size of the group is 25 persons / guide.

Guided thematic tours in the Open-Air Museum

You can order a guided thematic tour in the Open-Air Museum which is open for the public in summer. During a thematic tour, a professional guide will familiarize the participants of the tour with life at Tirro Farm and in Inari in the 1850s.

The seven-hectare open-air museum, which is situated on the shore of Lake Inari, introduces the visitors to the living quarters and hunting and fishing methods that were earlier typical of the Fishing and Reindeer-Herding Sámi. For example, the audience can have a look at the buildings of Tirro Farm, which have been moved to the premises from the valley of the River Vaskojoki. The guide will lead the visitors 150 years back in time, to the period when there were only a few small houses in Inari and the rhythm of life was determined by eight seasons.

The guided tour lasts for 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is available in Finnish and German. The price for the thematic tour is € 18/person (minimum price € 180). The price includes the entrance to the museum, the guided tour in the Open-Air Museum and an activity (during which the participants will make a sinker for a fishing net together with the guide). Without the activity, the guided tour costs € 14/person (min. price € 140).

Terms of delivery for guided tours for groups:
Guided tours must be booked in advance. A guided tour can be cancelled free of charge 48 hours before the tour is supposed to begin. The guide will be at Siida 15 minutes before the engagement and will wait for the group at the most 30 minutes after the intended start of the tour. If the group wants the guide to wait for longer, a charge of EUR 20 will be added to the invoice for each hour or part thereof. The guide can wait in case he/she has no other engagements. The pre-booked tour will be charged in full unless it is cancelled in time. Our guides are trained freelance guides, who know many languages.
