Guided tours 2017

Guided tours are arranged in Siida’s permanent exhibitions and, in summer, also in the Open-Air Museum. You can also learn more about the Sámi language and culture through a nice lesson titled Bures boahtin – Welcome! We especially recommend our guided tours for groups.

Guided Exhibition Tour

What does the plant angelica mean for Sámi? How are the aurora borealis created? What happened in Sápmi, the land of the Sámi, in 1998? What is the main idea of Siida’s exhibitions?

A guide will help you to have an in-depth view of Siida’s permanent exhibitions. Thus, you will learn more about the exhibitions and be able to ask questions directly from the guide.

Siida’s exhibition tours cover the permanent exhibitions of the house. A guided tour lasts for an hour. There is also time for questions and discussion.

The tour is available in Finnish, English, Russian and German.

A tour of the exhibitions costs € 105/group + the entrance fee/person. (2018: € 110)

We’ll have a closer look at some of the almost fifty buildings and constructions of the open-air museum that introduce visitors to the three Sámi cultures of Finland.

The tour tour lasts for an hour and is available in Finnish, English and German.

Theme Tours in the Tirro Farmyard, Open-Air Museum

What was life like on Tirro Farm and in Inari in the 1850s?

During the theme tour in the Open-Air Museum, the guide will lead the visitors 150 years back in time, into the period when there were only a few small buildings in Inari and the rhythm of life was determined by eight seasons. At the time, both reindeer and cows were kept on Tirro Farm. Livelihood consisted of fishing, hunting, gathering and smallholding.

A theme tour lasts for an hour and is available in Finnish, English and German.

The price for a theme tour is € 115 + entrance fee/person. (2018: € 120)

The tour can be combined with a programme of visitors making a fishing net weight with the help of the guide. The price for such a tour is € 135 + € 5 materials/person + entrance fee/person. (2018: € 145)

The maximum size of the group is 25 persons.
