The 2011 Nature Photographs of the Year

“The Fox”, an example of animal photography, by Kai Fagerström from Salo was chosen as The Nature Photograph of the Year 2011. The photograph is a fine example of Fagerström’s long project of photographing the fauna of his home region. In the photograph, the jury found features from classical portraiture, considering it a landmark on the way from mere declaratory nature photography to real photography. This time, an unparalleled 11,466 shots were submitted to the largest photography competition in the Nordic countries. The awarded shots make up a beautiful photography exhibition of superb colours, lightings and compositions.
